The design of the 750 Lofts Hotel is open and transparent, and ultimately pays homage the great modernist tradition of Palm Springs.

Two voids, each 16’-0’ in width, create an open and transparent massing, allowing view corridors from Indian Canyon Drive to the mountains beyond the West. While the voids maintain some of the views to the mountains, they also break down the building into three separate volumes.

Rather than reading as one monolithic volume, the voids create the effect of three smaller buildings on the site, achieving a more fitted scale within neighborhood. The effect of this operation is a building which is transparent, maximizing its views while consciously maintains views for the surrounding neighbors.

Finally, the use of finished concrete and repetitive volumes alludes to the modernist aesthetic of Palm Springs, creating a cohesive project which successfully reinforces the Palm Springs urban fabric. In keeping with tradition, our project expresses the raw beauty of cast-in-place concrete that is seen in mid-century projects.
